Founded in 2003 during the early years of the Global War on Terrorism, the memorial began as a high school senior project by Alicia Tallman at Milwaukie High School in Oregon. Originally named "Faces of the Fallen," the tribute featured photos and biographies of fallen service members attached to strings with binder clips. The presentation eventually shifted to a wall format. Alicia’s sister, Kelly Tallman, later took over maintenance of the tribute, but the display eventually fell out of date after both graduated and the wars persisted.

In 2014, Vets Helping Vets H.Q. assumed stewardship of the memorial, subsequently updating and establishing it in its current format under the name The Wall of Honor. From 2014 to 2021 as the wars continued names were continuously added to the panels.  Because keeping the records accurate during the active conflicts proved highly challenging, Vets Helping Vets H.Q. is now launching a comprehensive, major update to the display. As part of our mission, Vets Helping Vets, H.Q. promotes regular public displays of The Wall of Honor to ensure that the individuals lost during the Global War on Terrorism are never forgotten.

In addition to the Wall of Honor, Vets Helping Vets H.Q. proudly serves veterans by providing dedicated VA claims assistance and connecting veterans to vital community resources.
